As you are aware, the COVID-19 pandemic is presenting some significant challenges nationwide.
We wanted to let you know how FREED-Beeches Eating Disorder Service has responded to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and provide you with information regarding the steps that we have taken to ensure that we are still providing safe, high quality care.
Our service will be working on reduced hours (Monday - Friday 9.30am - 1.30pm, please be advised these times will be regularly reviewed) and as such please be assured that we are still open for new referrals to be sent through via email, telephone, GP and other professionals. All screenings and assessments will be conducted via telephone.
We are continuing to provide all Psychological and dietetic support across our service. However, we understand that some of our service users are at an increased vulnerability, and therefore all support will be done remotely. All service users appointments will go ahead as normal via telephone or video call. By offering remote support it will help to reduce vulnerability to COVID-19 in the following ways:
- allows service users to continue accessing support in a safe environments.
- reduces contact with others.
- reduces use of public transport
By putting this in place it allows service users to attend remote sessions with their therapist via their mobile phone or laptop.
We have also taken the measures of cancelling all meetings and postponing all external visitors to the service until further notice.
Whilst we appreciate the above measures may have an impact we respect the advice of those professionals who are working tirelessly to understand the impact of this new virus for society. We also recognise the bigger role that we play in delaying the spread of the virus and protecting the most vulnerable members of our communities. To that end we will continue to follow the advice set down by Public Health England, the NHS and the local authorities. We will continue to do our best to maintain routine for our service users. However, we would ask for your understanding should we need to make any additional adjustments to the above.
We would urge any of our service users to contact their GP should they have any concerns regarding their physical health. We also advise should you experience any of the common symptoms of the virus to follow NHS guidelines.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please get in touch. Should you need to change your appointment please do so by contacting the service on 01909 479922 or emailing email@example.com
We will continue to keep you updated.
