Counselling

Some people may be embarrassed to attend therapy, believing they have failed in some way. This is not the case. Talking to someone confidentially who is not a family member or friend can make all the difference.

Counselling provides time for those in distress to explore their feelings and talk about their problems. Counselling should help you develop better ways of coping so you can live the life you deserve

There are three categories of psychological therapies:

Therapy Type Description
Behavioural Therapy Focusing on cognitions and behaviours
Psychoanalytical and Psychodynamic Unconscious relationship patterns evolved from childhood
Humanistic Therapy Focus on 'here and now'

Counsellors may overlap some of these therapies and some may take elements of several different models and combine them when working with a client.
